Kids Camp Policies

What should I expect in a typical class?

Expect a hands-on learning class with demonstrations, lots of individual and group hands-on learning and creating, plenty of room for questions, and of course, tasty things to bring home! We’ll also have short breaks in the middle of class, where snacks will be provided.

What is provided in class?

We provide all kitchen tools, ingredients and aprons needed for class. We’ll also have snacks and drinks available for breaks.

What should I wear and bring to class?

Wear closed-toed, rubber-soled or other non-slip shoes (such as sneakers) and comfortable clothes with sleeves that can be pushed back and won’t get in the way. We encourage you to send your kids with large containers to take home their creations - enough to take home a dozen or more baked goods. Additional snacks and drinks for breaks are also welcome.

What time do the classes start/end each day?

Each day of camp starts promptly at 9am, and ends at 12:30pm. If you will be running late for either pickup or dropoff, please call or text us as soon as possible so we know what to expect and can accommodate your child accordingly.

Should I accompany my child to the youth camp?

The camp is designed for ages 10-16, so we encourage parents/guardians to allow children to learn among their peers (and take the morning off – you deserve it!). There will be at least 2 adult instructors present to provide supervision each day. Feel free to reach out with further questions.

What is your cell phone policy?

For safety and sanitary reasons, we do not allow cell phones, tablets, or other electronic devices (including music players, headphones, cameras, etc.) in the kitchen area while class is being conducted. Participants are encouraged to leave devices at home if possible, but are welcome to keep them with their personal belongings for use during breaks or when permission is given (to take photos of a student’s work or in order to call a parent, for example).

What are your cancellation and refund policies?

Cancellations must be made at least 7 days in advance of the start of a class to receive a refund or credit towards a future class. Otherwise, all class sales are final and non-transferable.

Waiver and Release

Parents/guardians of participants must electronically sign waiver and release forms upon registering for the kids camp.

What is the best way to contact you?

For non-urgent questions, you can email us at info@theashevillekitchen.com and we’ll get back to you within 24 hours, but often sooner. For day-of updates, urgent questions, etc., you can reach out via text or call 917-836-9237 (for Instructor Emily) or (919) 633-1688 (for Instructor Laura).
